Said the Boy Who Looked Sad Sitting On a Log Over a Stream Offshooting a Waterfall with His Father

Ashley Ellen Goetz

I refuse to have fun when the fun requires sitting on this fallen tree. Just can’t help feeling bad for the tree (But it’s got a great view. And people like to sit on it. It’s a cozy tree. And very usefully and strategically placed next to that waterfall. So you can smile. It’s ok! It might still even be growing there, all bent awkwardly. But it’s on its way to becoming a step. Or a path. Or something new and earthy…Its a good and decent tree. A noble tree. A wise and humble gap connector. A bridge. A poem made with the medium of the landscape.).
